So after multiple falls off his Birthday bike, we realized we got Enoch the wrong size. We should have gotten him a 12 inch, instead of 14. He has not ridden his bike in a few months. We've wanted to get him a new, smaller bike, but hated the thought of another $70.Fastforward to Memorial Day Weekend: Nathan and Enoch went for a walk and after awhile, Enoch came running into the house asking if I had $2. After a few questions, I find out there's a 12 inch bike at a garage sale down the street. I told Enoch if he really wanted this bike, he could use his piggy bank money to buy it. So after raiding his savings, and counting out 8 quarters (he meticulously put 4 in each pocket), they headed back out the door to buy this 'new' bike. Maybe you've seen those new bikes without the pedals or chains and you ride it more like a ride on toy than a bike. Anyways, they are supposed to help kids learn how to balance, and they skip the whole training wheel thing. Anyways, we've thought about getting him one of those, but new ones run between $100 & $140! Nathan had the great idea to transform this new bike into one of those 'ride on' bikes. So Nathan grabbed his tools, and Enoch grabbed his, and out they went to the garage. They spent a good hour out there 'fixing' his 'new' bike; removing the pedals and the chain, and then lowering the seat. Enoch now rides his bike, and tells everyone he sees "I'm learning to balance." Which I'm sure they have no clue what he's talking about. I'd say he has the coolest bike ever. And it was Enoch's first purchase with his own money; only $2!
